Homeowners across Bath and North East Somerset can get help towards the cost of a home energy assessment through the Retrofit West Homeowner Voucher Scheme.
From 1 September, eligible homeowners can receive vouchers covering 50% of the cost of a qualifying survey, up to £400 per survey. This replaces the previous 80% voucher offer.
Applications for the voucher scheme are open until 31 December 2026, although vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and could run out sooner. Vouchers are valid for six weeks from the date they are issued, so you'll need to book your home energy assessment within this period.
Why get a home energy assessment?
If you’re thinking about making your home warmer, healthier or more energy efficient, getting independent advice can help you understand which improvements may be right for your property and how best to approach them.
Depending on your home and circumstances, an assessment could help you consider:
- improving insulation and ventilation
- reducing draughts, condensation and damp
- installing solar panels or battery storage
- whether a heat pump could be suitable for your home
- planning energy efficiency improvements as part of a renovation or extension
A range of qualifying home energy assessments is available from providers listed by Retrofit West, including Home Energy Efficiency Plans.
How to access the voucher scheme
Eligible Home Energy Efficiency Plans can receive the current 50% voucher discount.
You can no longer use your 50% voucher for Bath and West Community Energy heat pump assessments. However, you can still get a heat pump assessment through Heat Geek, with the 50% voucher reducing the cost to £125.
